The Center for Workforce Development (CWD)
administers the federally funded
Workforce Investment Act (WIA) program. It provides WIA
services to both jobseekers and employers. The
Smoky Mountains
Workforce Area services 10 counties in East Tennessee including
Claiborne, Cocke, Grainger, Greene, Hamblen, Hancock, Hawkins,
Jefferson, Sevier, and Union.
The Greene county CWD is located within Walters
State Community College Greeneville Center. It offers career
resources to Greene County Job Seekers and Employers.
For Job Seekers:
- CWD assists individuals with job search. Our office
offers:
- Computers for online job search
- Access to the state job search system (eCMATS)
- Daily classified ads listed in the local newspapers
- Listings of local jobs posted through the Tennessee
Department of Labor & Workforce Development
- CWD offers job readiness assistance through:
- Assistance with writing resumes
- Workshops that provide career readiness assistance
- Basic Computer Skills
- Interviewing Techniques
- Resume Writing Techniques
- Funding for training may also be available to qualified
individuals who lack certain job skills to compete in
today’s market
For Employers:
- Posting of available job openings
- Provide assessments to aid employers with job screening
- Administer testing for the Career Readiness Certificates
- Assist with employee training needs
- On-the-Job Training
- Incumbent Worker Training
- Customized Training
