Senators End Season At 55-9

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — All good things come to an end and that’s what happened to the Walters State baseball season Monday afternoon at Sam Suplizio Field in the JUCO World Series.

The Vaqueros of Central Arizona, the preseason top team in the nation, smashed three homeruns off of Senators’ starting pitcher Jack Snodgrass to build up a big lead and grab a 10-5 victory to keep their season alive.

Freshmen Will Skinner and Jesse Wierzbicki each had three singles for the Senators. Freshman Dylan Pratt homered and singled while sophomore Adam Milligan singled in his final game, pushing his hitting streak to 28 games.

Sophomore Jack Snodgrass (6-1) was tagged for six runs and 13 hits in 4 2/3 innings. Coty Woods, also a sophomore, pitched the final 4 1/3 innings.

The loss ends a highly successful season for Walters State with a 55-9 record. In the process, they set school records with 161 home runs and 620 runs scored in a single season. The pitching staff also set a school record for strikeouts in a single season with 467.
