TAZEWELL, Tenn. -- The Walters State Senators golf team finished up their fall schedule with a 10th place finish in the Lincoln Memorial University Fall Invitational Tuesday at Woodlake Golf Course. The Senators shot a two-day total of 615 in cool conditions for the event.
Host LMU and North Greeneville tied for first place with a 576, but the Railsplitters took home the crown after winning a playoff. Tusculum finish four shots back in third place at 580, while Catawba (585) and Tennessee Wesleyan (587) closed out the top five.
Walters State was led by freshman Mark Hickey, who fired a 145 (75-70) to finish in a tie for 12th place individually. Sophomores Matthew Smith and Wil Jarnagin carded 156 and 157, respectively, and freshman Andrew Ramsey closed out the team scoring with a 157 as well. Fellow freshman Tanner Garland turned in a 164 for the tournament.
