MORRISTOWN, Tennessee - The
Walters State softball team bounced back from a disappointing loss in
the second game of a doubleheader Tuesday against Viriginia Intermont by
sweeping a twinbill against Moraine Valley (Ill.) Wednesday at the Lady
Senator Softball Complex.
In the opener, freshman
Alyssa Shoun used her arm and her batt to lead the Lady Senators to an
8-0 victory in five innings while in the second game, Walters State
scored nine runs after trailing 1-0 en route to a 9-1 triumph in five
innings.
With the sweep of the
doubleheader, the Lady Senators are 11-4 on the season.
Shoun (5-1) dominated the
game on the mound in the opener. The righthander gave up just two hits
and struck out nine batters to pick up her second victory in as many
days.
Offensively, Shoun finished
the contest with three hits, including a homer, and three RBIs.
Sophomores Miranda Tounzen and Lauren Mynatt each had two hits.
Walters State freshman
hurler Brittany Hill (3-2) earned the victory on the mound in game
two after giving up just one run and four hits in four innings of work.
Fellow freshman India Ellison pitched the final inning.
The Lady Senators return to
action Friday in the Wallace (Ala.) State Invitational.
