"The King and I" Plays This Weekend
"The King and I" tickets are now available! You won't want to miss this
wonderful production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's classic musical.
Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 5, 6, 7, 13 and 14 and 2:30 p.m. on
Nov. 8 and 15. Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for seniors and $10 for
students and children. Faculty and staff members may reserve two
complimentary tickets! Thursday night is a benefit performance for
Heart to Heart, an Honduras children's relief agency. A donation of any
kind will gain admittance! To make reservations, contact the Humanities

Senators, Lady Seantors at Home Monday
The Senators and LadySenators will be at Monday to host Clinton Junior College. The ladies tip-off at 6 p.m., with the males playing at 8 p.m. Admission is free and both teams are creating a buzz this year. Comee see what the buzz is all about! (The Cheerleaders will also be making their debut this weekend!)

Lady Senators Ranked No. 11 in Preseason Poll
Congratulations to the Lady Senators basketball team! Coming off the heels of a program best 33-1 record and fifth place finish in the NJCAA National Tournament last season, the team has been ranked 11th in the nation in the preseason NJCAA Division I Coaches Poll released Monday afternoon. The team opens the season Monday, Nov. 9, when they host Clinton (S.C.) Junior College at 'Z' Buda Gymnasium in Morristown.

Senators Start Season with Big Win!
The Walters State Senators opened their season in
rousing fashion Wednesday night by routing the visiting Milligan JV
Buffaloes 101-49 at 'Z' Buda Gymnasium in Morristown.
Freshman Fred Sturdivant (Chattanooga, Tenn.) began his
college career with a 19-point performance. The Chattanooga Brainerd
product added five rebounds, three blocked shots, two steals and a pair
of assists to lead the Senators attack.The team next sees action on Monday against Clinton Junior College. Ladies tip-off at 6 p.m., followed by men at 8 p.m. Admission is free!

The Math Lab is in MBSS-222 and is open from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday (until 5:30 p.m. on Thursday). Other times may be available through appointment. Everyone is invited to noonday lunch every Wednesday at the BCM from 11:30 a.m-1 p.m. A home-cooked lunch is provided by a local church. Your first meal is free, and it's $2.50 afterwards with all proceeds going to campus missions. No need to RSVP...just show up!

Tennessee Tech Transfer Scholarship Information
Students interested in transferring to Tennessee Technological University have until Dec. 15, 2009, to apply for scholarships for the 2010-2011 academic year. Several scholarships are available and students must first apply for admission to TTU online at www.tntech.edu/applyonline. A $15 application fee is required. All transcripts must be submitted by Jan. 15, 2010.If you have questions, contact the scholarship office at scholarships@tntech.edu or at (931) 372-6159.

Here's MTSU Transfer Scholarship Information
Here some information on scholarships at MTSU. Incoming transfer students who may qualify for a $3000 Transfer Academic Service scholarship must apply for admission to MTSU by the Feb. 1 priority scholarship deadline. (This is two weeks earlier than in previous years.) To be considered, students must have a 3.0 GPA and at least 45 earned hours at the end of the Fall 2009. Priority will be given to students transferring from a TBR community college who are receiving an academic scholarship at the current institution. Updated information about MTSU's academic scholarships will be available at http://www.mtsu.edu/scholarships/transfers_scholarships.shtml by mid-October. Phi Theta Kappa members may apply for a $4000 PTK Scholarship by submitting the application available at http://www.mtsu.edu/scholarships/forms/PTKapplication.pdf. Bus Trip to "Save Darfur" Presentation Leaves at 5:30 P.M.
Students interested ini learning more about the social problems and human suffering in Darfur are invited to hear a speaker from Doctors Without Borders today at East Tennessee State University. The International Fee Oversight Committee is sponsoring a bus to the presentation at no charge. The bus leaves at 5:30 p.m. today and will return around 11 p.m. Sign up in HUM-148

All students who received an invitation letter from Dr. McCamey to join Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society are encouraged to attend an orientation meeting on either Wednesday, Nov. 4, in MBSS 228 at 1 p.m. or on Thursday, Nov. 5, in MBSS 228 at 2:30 p.m. If you cannot attend an orientation session but would still like to join, please bring the completed application and payment to Karla Martin, MBSS 237, by Nov. 6. To be eligible, a student must be full-time, degree seeking and have earned at least 12 college-level semester hours of coursework with a grade point average of 3.5 or better. Hey DPSW 0800 Students: Your Words Could Win a Scholarship!
Students taking DSPW 0800 this semester should enter the Developmental Writing Scholarship. Write a five paragraph essay on "Taking Charge of My Life." Two tuition scholarships will be given with the winner receiving $500 and honorable mention receiving $300. Ask your developmental writing instructor for more information about the Developmental Writing Excellence Award. Submit your entry to Glenda Nolen in HUM-148 by 4 p.m. on Dec. 14. The winners will be announced at Honor's Day in April 2010.

PTK Taking Applications for All-Tennessee Academic Team
Phi Theta Kappa and USA Today sponsor a nationwide program for recognizing outstanding community college students. Walters State may nominate up to two students to compete for this honor. These two students will automatically be named to the All-Tennessee Academic Team and be eligible to receive full tuition scholarships to several Tennessee universities. To apply, students must fill out an application form, should expect to obtain an associate’s degree by August 2010, and have a minimum 3.50 cumulative GPA on all college credit course work. Membership in Phi Theta Kappa is not required. For more information and application forms, please see Karla Martin, MBSS 237 or call 585-6882. The completed application must be submitted to Karla Martin by noon on Friday, November 13.

Tuesday Deadline for Cirque de Chine
Students can get free tickets for Saturday's 2 p.m. performance of "Cique de Chine" in Sevierville. This multi-media attraction includes over 50 cast members, acrobatics and even flying motorcycles. Bus transportation is available from the Morristown campus for students only on a first come, first serve basis. Tickets for faculty, staff and family members are only $10, so come enjoy an afternoon of fun and culture!

Last Week of Exhibit
The current art exhibit, "His and Hers: collection of pots from Rudolph Clay Studio" ends on Friday. The works are by Nigel Rudolph and Cheyanne Chapman Rudolph. Take a few minutes and enjoy them through Nov. 6 at the Catron Gallery inside the R. Jack Fishman Library. Admission is free.
