Career Centers Announce November Workshops

Job seekers can learn basic skills and much more during November workshops at the Tennessee Career Centers at Talbott and Morristown. The free workshops are sponsored by the Tennessee Department of Labor and Walters State’s Center for Workforce Development WIA Program.

The Tennessee Career Center at Talbott is located in the Alpha Square Shopping Center on West Andrew Johnson Highway. Workshops scheduled there are:

Computer Literacy Mouse Practice – Nov. 10, 3:30-4 p.m. Computer Literacy – Nov. 10, 4-7 p.m.

Computer Literacy Keyboarding/Typing Tutorial – Nov. 12, 9-11 a.m.

Computer Literacy Internet/E-mail Basics – Nov. 12, 2-4 p.m.

Job Readiness Series Intermediate (includes advanced job search, resumes and cover letters, interviewing techniques and impressive applications) – Nov. 17, 8:30-11:30 a.m.

Computer Literacy/Electronic Slide Presentation – Nov. 17, 2:30-5 p.m.

Small Business Information Seminar/Panel Discussion – Nov. 18, 10-11:30 a.m.

Computer Literacy Spreadsheet – Nov. 24, 9:30 a.m.-12 p.m.

Computer Literacy Electronic Publishing – Nov. 24, 3:30-6 p.m.

SCORE Small Business Workshop – Nov. 25, 10:30 a.m.-12 p.m.

The Tennessee Career Center at Morristown is located in the Clifford H. “Bo” Henry Center for Business and Technology at Walters State Community College. Workshops planned there in November are:

Revamp Your Resume and Cover Letter – Nov. 11, 10 a.m.

Promote Yourself in Sixty Seconds – Nov. 12, 10 a.m.

Both centers also offer resource labs with computers, printers and fax machines that job seekers can use at no charge. Centers also may provide information about the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development, the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, Tennessee Technology Center, Adult Education Program, Walters State Community College and Workforce Investment are available at the center. All services are free to anyone who is at least 18 years old.
