Faculty and Friends Recital Planned Feb. 9
January 30, 2017

Walters State Community College will hold its first Faculty and Friends recital on Feb. 9, with proceeds benefitting the choir’s planned trip to New York to perform at Carnegie Hall.
Musical selections include classical, jazz, show tunes and bluegrass. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. in the theatre of the Judge William H. Inman Humanities Complex on the Morristown Campus. Admission is $5.
Following an audition, the Walters State choir received an invitation to perform this spring at Carnegie Hall as part of a two-day choral festival. A limited number of invitations were given, with most going to choirs at four-year universities and graduate programs.
The choir is made up of 40 members from throughout the college’s 10-county service area. The trip to New York will be a first for many of these students. They will spend two days working with a nationally known choral director and present a master work backed by an orchestra. Students will also attend a Broadway play.
For more information, contact Elissa Keck Hodge, instructor of music, at 423-585-6951.
