Classes Planned in Cocke, Hawkins Counties

Walters State Community College will offer popular general election courses at Cocke County High School and at Cherokee High School in Hawkins County spring semester. 
The following classes will be offered on the night indicated at Cherokee High School: music appreciation (Monday), intro to sociology (Tuesday), fundamentals of speech communication (Wednesday) and humanities: the human adventure (Thursday).
The following classes will be offered on the night indicated at Cocke County High School: probability and statistics (Monday), composition II (Tuesday), American history II (Tuesday), computer applications (Wednesday), and music appreciation (Thursday).
These classes fulfill requirements for most majors. Classes meet from 6-9:05 p.m. These classes may be taken by high school students for dual enrollment and are also convenient options for working adults who want to return to college.
“Students in Cocke or Hawkins counties can take many of the classes needed for an associate’s degree in general studies without driving to campus,” said Frank Umbarger, coordinator of distance education at Walters State.
