Workforce Training Classes Offered In February

Sevier County
Office Sampler: PowerPoint 2013 is an introduction to the Microsoft Office Suite of products — PowerPoint. Students learn to create, edit, save, open, print and share a basic presentation along with many presentation features. The class meets on Feb. 1 from 9 a.m. until noon. The cost is $69.

ServSafe Sanitation and Safety is a course based on the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation ServSafe program. It includes a study of the HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) system and training in all areas of food safety relevant to a food establishment. Students develop an understanding of the basic principles of sanitation and safety and to be able to apply them in the food service industry. The class meets on Feb. 6 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The cost is $99.

SHRM-CP and SHRM-SCP Certification Preparation is for individuals seeking credentials in the field of human resources. The program covers four areas of study: people, organization, workplace, and strategy. Also covered are eight behavioral competencies: leadership and navigation, ethical practice, business acumen, relationship management, consultation, critical evaluation, global and cultural effectiveness, and communication. The class meets on Tuesdays, Feb. 7 – May 2, from 5;30-8:30 p.m. The cost is $1,095.

Microsoft Excel 2013 — Level 1 involves learning to create, save and print Excel documents, explore formatting tips and tricks, create formulas, enter functions, copy, paste, work with page layout features, and learn quick tips and shortcuts. The class meets on Feb. 22 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cost is $150.

Microsoft Excel 2013 — Level 2 builds on skills and concepts taught in Excel 2013: Level 1. Students learn to use multiple worksheets and workbooks efficiently, and to work with advanced formatting options. The class meets on Feb. 21 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cost is $150.

Greeneville/Greene County 
Getting Started With Your PC is a two-day class to explore the basic components of computer operations from the power switch to sending an email. Areas of study will include computer basics, Windows Operating System, Internet Explorer, Google Mail (Gmail), and Microsoft Word. Two classes are offered on Thursdays, Feb. 2-9. One class meets from 11-4 p.m.; the other meets from 5-8 p.m. The cost is $129.

The Electrical & PLC Troubleshooting course is designed to help students develop electrical and programmable logical control (PLC) troubleshooting capabilities. This course will cover 4 areas of concentration including Electrical Components, Advanced Electrical, PLC Ladder Logic and PLC Advanced Electrical Troubleshooting. The class meets Feb. 7-April 27 from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Walters State’s Advanced Manufacturing and Welding Building. The cost is $1,495.

A Supervisor’s Toolkit is a six-part course covering: Leading People, Different Strokes; Leader Effectiveness; Optimizing Contributions; Personal and Interpersonal Effectiveness; and Eliminating Conflict. The class meets on Mondays, Feb. 13-27, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cost is $349.

Microsoft Office Sampler is an introduction to the products Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. The four-day course begins with using Excel 2013 to create a basic spreadsheet, use shortcuts, basic functions, edit cells and format. Days three and four will explore using Outllook 2013 to create and send emails, create contracts, add calendar appointments and other features. Students will learn to use PowerPoint 2013 to create, edit, save, open, print and share basic presentation features. The class meets on Tuesdays, Feb. 23-March 16, from 1-4 p.m. The cost is $249.

Parenting and Divorce meets Tennessee court-order requirements for parenting classes required by law for divorcing couples. Learn to improve your family’s communication skills and enable the transition in a healthier and less traumatic way, especially for children. The class meets on Feb. 16 from 5:30-9:30 p.m. The cost is $50.
