Workforce Training Classes Offered In March
January 30, 2017

Walters State Division of Workforce Training will offer the following classes at the Morristown, Greeneville/Greene County and Sevier County campuses in March. For more information, contact Amanda Hill at Amanda.Hill@ws.edu or 423-798-7946.

Greeneville/Greene County
General Welding — Stick, MIG, TIG is an overview of the three welding processes with four hours of introductory training in each process. Students will become familiar with the techniques, equipment and applications of each process. Remaining course time may be used for additional training selected by the student. This course is ideal for an individual who is trying to decide on a specific career or learning path related to welding. The class meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Feb. 28 — March 30, from 5-9 p.m. at the Walters State Advanced Manufacturing and Welding Facility in Greeneville. The cost is $525.

Microsoft Excel 2013 — Level 1 involves learning to create, save, and print Excel documents, explore formatting tips and tricks, create formulas, enter functions, copy, paste, work with page layout features, and learn quick tips and shortcuts. The class meets on March 14 from 9 a.m. to noon. The cost is $79.

Microsoft Excell Level 3 builds on the skills and concepts learned in Excel 2013 Level 2. Learn how to use multiple worksheets and workbooks efficiently and start working with more advanced formatting options, including Tables PivotTables, Analyzing Data Working with Web and External Data, Working Macros, and Customizing Excel. The class meets on March 23 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cost is $150.

Parenting and Divorce
This course meets Tennessee’s court-order requirements by helping parents and their children during divorce. The class focuses on communication skills and enabling a healthier and less traumatic transition for family members. The class meets on March 17 from 5:30-9:30 p.m. The cost is $50.

Sevier County
ServSafe Sanitation & Safety is a course based on the National Restaurant Assocaition Educational Foundation ServSafe program. It includes a study of the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point system and training in all areas of food safety relative to a food establishment. Federal and state laws, rules and regulations governing food service are emphasized. The class meets on March 6 from 8 am. To 6 p.m. The cost is $99.

Microsoft Access Level 2 builds on the skills and concepts learned in Access Level 1. Students will learn table relationships, how to lookup fields, sub-datasheets, joining tables in queries, using calculated fields, summarizing and grouping values, adding graphics, and more. The class meets on March 7 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cost is $179. 

Microsoft Excel 2013 — Level 2 builds on the skills and concepts taught in Excel 2013: Level 1. Students will learn how to use multiple worksheets and workbooks and will start working with more advanced formatting options including: managing workbooks, functions, formulas, data ranges and analyzing data. The class meets March 8 from 9 a.m. to 4 pm. The cost is $150.

Principles of Banking is a workshop approved by the Tennessee Bankers Association. Long recognized as the standard introduction to the banking profession, the workship touches on nearly every aspect of banking, from the fundamentals of negotiable instruments to contemporary issues and developments within the industry. The class meets on Tuesdays, March 14 — May 16 from 8-11 a.m. The cost is $349.

Essentials of Human Resource Management Certificate provides an introductory overview of the human resources function. Whether you are new to HR, or whether HR is one of many aspects of your job, this program covers the key HR topics you need to know. The class meets March 21-28 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cost is $465.
