American Jobs Center Offers Free Workshops
February 1, 2017

The American Jobs Center Morristown plans 13 different free workshops to improve computer skills and job search skills in February. Services are funded through a partnership between Walters State Community College and the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development. 

The February workshop schedule is:
•American Job Center Orientation – Feb. 7, 14, 21 or 28, 8:15 a.m.
•Email Basics – Feb. 7 or 21, 10 a.m.
•Internet Basics – Feb. 7 or 21, 11:30 a.m.
•Electronic Presentations – Feb. 2 or 16, 10 a.m.
•Electronic Spreadsheets – Feb. 10 or 24, 9 a.m.
•Computer Terminology and Word Processing – Feb. 15, 9:30 a.m.
•Second Chance Job Readiness (for job seekers with a criminal record) – Feb. 6, 13 or 27, 10 a.m. or 2 p.m.
•Job Readiness I (job search, resumes, cover letters, applications and interviews) –  
•Job Readiness II (employers and online recruiting, e-portfolio development, marketing tools) – Feb. 7 or 14, 1:30 p.m.
•Job Readiness III (interpersonal skills, business etiquette, self-management) – Feb. 9 and 16, 9:30 a.m.
•Job Readiness IV (making a career move or transition) – Feb. 9 or 16, 1:30 p.m.
•Career Coaching and Guidance (with a trained career specialist) – Feb. 8 or 15, 9-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m.
•Mock Interviewing – Feb. 3, 10 or 24, 11 a.m.-12 p.m. or 2-3 p.m.
Hands-on computer usage and mouse training is available every day from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m.

The Center also houses a resource room with material beneficial to both job seekers and employers. Job seekers can use computers, fax machines and printers at no cost. The Center is located at 215 South Liberty Hill Road.  
While workshops are free, reservations are required and can be made by calling 423-317-1060. Please note that the Center will be closed on Feb. 20 in observance of President’s Day.
