Join the Walters State Adventurers for a one of the area’s most spectacular hikes. We’ll be traveling to the Big South Fork on April 29 to the Honey Creek Loop trail. The trip is free for students and you can sign up be e-mailing your WS ID number to Turner Bowling at Turner.Bowling@ws.edu.
The bus will leave from the Morristown Campus at 7 a.m. and return sometime between 5-6 p.m. The trip is free, but students should bring snacks, food and water for the trip. A limited number of spaces are available and will be filled on a first come, first serve basis.
This hike is suitable for both aspiring and seasoned hikers. You’ll see some beautiful waterfalls, sky-high walls of color, gardens of boulders and mossy roots and a gorgeous river overlook. You’ll also pass a Native American cave dwelling. The trip is 5.5 miles.
While most hikers can get by with decent footwear and a knapsack of some kind for hauling provisions, water-resistant shoes or boots with decent ankle support are a plus.
