American Job Center Offers Free Computer Classes

The American Job Center in Morristown offers workshops to help job seekers start or recharge their job search activities. New job seekers are also encouraged to attend one of the American Job Center orientation sessions to learn about the services available.  

These workshops are free. Services are funded through a partnership between Walters State Community College and the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development.

Workshops scheduled for June are: 
American Job Center Orientation – 8:15-8:45 a.m., June 6, 13, 20 or 27
E-Mail Basics – 10-11:30 a.m., June 13 or 27
Internet Basics – 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., June 13 or 27
Computer Terminology and Word Processing – 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., June 7 or 21
Electronic Presentations – 10 a.m.-noon, June 1 or 15
Electronic Spreadsheets – 9 a.m.-noon, June 9 or 23
Second Chance Job Readiness (for individuals with a criminal record) – 10 a.m.-noon or 2-4 p.m., June 5, 12, 19 or 26.

Students can also practice their computer training and mouse skills anytime between 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. The practice session usually lasts about 90 minutes.

The Center also houses a resource room with material beneficial to both job seekers and employers. Job seekers can use computers, fax machines and printers at no cost. The American Job Center is located at 215 South Liberty Hill Road in Morristown. 

While workshops are free, reservations are required and can be made by calling 423-317-1060.
