Tennessee Career Center Plans April Workshops

The Tennessee Career Center at Talbott, an Americans Jobs Center, plans over 30 free workshops for job seekers during the month of April. All workshops are held at the Center in the Alpha Square Shopping Center next to Fred’s. 
Workshops planned are:

•Job Readiness Series 1 (how to start a job search) – April 1, April 15 or April 29, 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. 
•JOBS4TN Job Search Assistance (using the state’s job database) – April 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30, 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
•Resume Revision/Development Lab – April 2, 9, 16, 23, 30, 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
•Computer Literacy Mouse Practice – April 3, 9-9:30 a.m. or April 17, 1-1:30 p.m.
•Computer Literacy Basics – April 3, 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. or April 17, 1:30-4:30 p.m.
•Ex-Offender Job Readiness Workshop –April 7, 14, 21 and 28, 10-11 a.m.
•Computer Literacy E-Mail Basics – April 8, 9-10:30 a.m. 
•Computer Literacy Internet Basics – April 8, 10:30 a.m.- noon
•Computer Literacy Electronic Slide Presentations – April 10, 9-11:30 a.m.
•Computer Literacy Electronic Note Management – April 22, 9:30-11:30 a.m.
•Computer Literacy Electronic Publishing – April 22, 1:30-4 p.m.
•Electronic (online) Employment Applications – April 24, 9:30-11 a.m.
•Computer Literacy, Electronic Data Base Management – April 24, 1:30-4:30 p.m.
•Successfully Navigate Online Job Banks – April 29, 2-4 p.m.

Funding is provided through a partnership between the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development and Walters State Community College. 

The Tennessee Career Center at Talbott offers a resource lab with computers, printers and fax machines. Job seekers may use these at no charge. Representatives from many area agencies are located at the Center, including, the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development, the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, the Tennessee College of Applied Sciences, the Adult Education Program, Douglas-Cherokee Economic Authority, training programs and available financial aid. All services are available at no charge; the only requirement is that individuals be at least 18 years of age. Those under 18 may receive services from the Smoky Mountains Youth Council, which is also located at the Center.
