General Studies to Be Offered By College Express
June 6, 2014

Walters State Community College is offering the general studies degree through its popular College Express Program this fall. College Express meets one or two nights a week, with students completing a degree in two years just as full-time students do.

"College Express is a great way to get the first two years of a college degree completed," said Matthew Hunter, dean of distance education at Walters State.

"This general studies cohort is designed for students who want to go on to a four-year college or university and complete a bachelor's degree. Students will complete all or most the general education courses required for almost any major," Hunter said.

This also a good choice for students who have not decided on a four-year degree plan, and for students are already established in careers and want or need a degree to advance. Many area four-year universities offer similar programs, enabling students to earn a bachelor's degree in four years, instead of six or more if attending part-time.

College Express will also be offered for clean energy technology majors and pre-allied health majors. The latter is designed for students who want to enter Walters State's nursing, respiratory care, physical therapist assistant and surgical technologists programs.
