James Welch of Speedwell is the recipient of the 2014-15 Walters State Distinguished Adjunct Faculty Award. Welch has taught a total of 75 terms over the past 30 years. He teaches American history I and II and Tennessee history at the Walters State Claiborne County Campus and he was recently named the Claiborne County Historian.
