With a little help from Walters State, Ian Arensbak turned his hobby
into a career.
“I have been doing Web design and computer graphics since I was 12
or 13 years old. It’s fun. I realized that, if I went to college, I
could actually get paid for doing Web design.”
Ian earned a technical certificate in Web design and development. He
immediately landed a job at a Sevierville advertising firm. Even
though he had been working with Web design for many years, he
learned much more about the Internet and Web sites in college.
“At Walters State, my courses were great. I learned so much about
programming. I use that knowledge now in building e-commerce sites,”
Ian said.
Ian credits his creative bend to genetics. His father makes the
popular Smoky Mountain Trolls, while his mother does ceramics and
his sister paints.
