Provide and maintain centralized computer systems, software and associated networked microcomputer systems to efficiently and effectively support the administrative functions of the college. Enhance the student educational experience through the provision of computing technologies in the classroom, laboratory, and faculty office. Offer administrative and instructional computing capabilities at the off-campus centers. Offer education and training programs for faculty and staff, and indirectly students, to effectively utilize all institutional computing capabilities.
The Educational and User Technologies group participates in cross-departmental activities for the help desk, knowledge base, license negotiations, developing and monitoring departmental service level agreements (SLA), campus computer labs, IT repair, and desktop support services that support campus departments, faculty, staff and students at all Walters State campuses. The staff are involved in developing, planning, and implementing long- and short-term goals, projects, and initiatives for support services, IT licensing, SLAs, and computing facilities/technologies for all faculty, staff, and students at all campuses. This group is the front line for maintaining reliable, timely, secure, and responsive support environment.
The Administrative Computing group provides service to all Administrative Computing functions and systems in relation to Banner HR, Finance, Student, Internet systems and support systems hardware. All services are provided to support academic and administration functions at all WSCC campuses. Staff is responsible for guidance, support, and policy governance and is responsible for systems performance and overall availability of Administrative Computing resources. All levels of systems policy, reporting, programming, and security, as well as managing systems upgrades, code modification, proper documentation, and procedures are charged to IET Administrative Computing.
The Network Services and Enterprise Security group provides day to day oversight and management of the voice, video, and data infrastructure for the college. This includes network hardware, multimedia systems, environmental controls, power systems, and cabling. This group also oversees all enterprise security and develops strategy, policy, and maintains security measures to ensure that all systems and networks are secure and is deployed utilizing the latest security practices and technologies. Additional areas of oversight include special events, multimedia systems, and custom audio/video production. All services are provided in support of academic and administration functions at all WSCC campuses.
The Server Systems group participates in cross-departmental management of local and hosted-server systems, virtualized servers, virtual applications, knowledge base development, license negotiations, and license management, and departmental service level agreements (SLA). This group implements and manages virtual lab and virtual desktops services that support campus departments, faculty, staff and students at all Walters State campuses. The staff are involved in developing, planning, and implementing long-term and short-term goals, projects, and initiatives for all server systems. This includes server applications, directory services, storage systems, backup systems, security services, licensing, SLAs, and centralized computing facilities/technologies for all faculty, staff, and students at all campuses. The Server System group maintains a reliable, timely, secure, and responsive support environment for all local server and hosted systems.
