Workshop to Teach Suzuki Stage Techniques
July 16, 2019

Walters State Community College will offer a Performer’s Workshop: Suzuki/Viewpoints Intensive with instructor Ivan Perez. The class meets July 22-25 from 6:30-9:30 p.m. on the Morristown Campus. The cost is $100.
Techniques taught in this workshop can increase the stage presence of actors, dancers, singers, public speakers, teachers and others who spend time on stage or in front of an audience.
Students will discover their own expressive abilities and learn how to use those in front of an audience. Teachings from many disciplines are combined to form the Suzuki method.
“In this Suzuki workshop, students learn to utilize the body as a primary instrument through various physical exercises. Students can strengthen their stage power with techniques taught in this workshop,” said Perez.
Students will also build skill in movement, acting, character development and realize how to connect more closely with a character or with material to be shared.
Perez is a member of the Actors Equity Association and has worked in 40 states as an actor, director and educator. He is a graduate of Marymount Manhattan College.
The class is open to everyone age 14 and up. Individuals at all skill levels and background will feel comfortable in the workshop. Students should wear clothing that permits ease of movement, including socks.
