Community Band Concert Sunday

Walters State’s Community Band will perform its fall semester concert at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 24, in the “Z” Buda Assembly Hall and Gymnasium on the Morristown Campus. Admission is free. 
This will be the first concert for director David Price. Long-time director Tom Shupe will be found in the trombone section. The band includes over 70 members. The band includes Walters State students, high school students and community members who just love to play traditional band music. 
Planned numbers include “Star,” featuring soloist Marilyn Purkey with Kathy Sotelo on the keyboards and an arrangement of “Jefferson: A Vision for America” with readers Mary Ellen Broome, Nikki Russell, Jeffrey Mews, Hannah Waldron, Gwen Blair, James Knipper, Logan Beaudreau, Mary Beth Strange, Samantha Scarce, Josie Hernandez, Beth McGhee-Folsom and Nancy Bradley.
Following a short intermission, the band will usher in the Christmas season with performances of “Sleigh Ride,” “Carol of the Bells,” “A Christmas Festival,” “We Wish You a Merry Christmas” and “We Wish You a Mambo Christmas.”
