American Job Center Offers Free Workshops
October 5, 2017

The American Job Center Morristown offers group and individual workshops for those seeking employment or looking to get better jobs. Services are funded through a partnership between Walters State Community College and the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development. 

The October workshop schedule is:
•Orientation to American Job Center – Oct. 10, 17 and 24, 8:15-8:45 a.m. or Oct. 9, 4:30-5:50 p.m.

•Second Change Job Readiness for job applicants with criminal records – Oct. 9, 16 or 23, 10 a.m.-noon or 2-4 p.m. 
•Job Readiness II (online recruiting, using job search websites, e-portfolio development) – Oct. 10, 9:30 a.m.- noon.
•Job Readiness III (interpersonal skills, business etiquette, self-management, teamwork) – Oct. 17, 9:30 a.m.-noon.

•Job Readiness IV (making career transitions and resume makeovers) – Oct. 24, 9:30 a.m.-noon.

•Employability Skills I (attitude and self-esteem) – Oct. 30, 10 a.m.-noon
•Employability Skills II (conflict management, team building) – Oct. 30, 1:30-3:30 p.m.

•Career Advancement, Introduction to Entrepreneurship – Oct. 31, 9:30 a.m.-noon
•Career Advancement, Leadership, Excellence and Talent Management – Oct. 31, 1:30-4 p.m.

The following courses are available by appointment only between 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesday through Friday: Email Basics, Internet Basics, Word Processing, Electronic Presentations and Electronic Spreadsheets. 
Hands-on computer usage and mouse training is available every day from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. 

The Center also houses a resource room with material beneficial to both job seekers and employers. Job seekers can use computers, fax machines and printers at no cost. The Center is located at 215 South Liberty Hill Road.
