Walters State Announces Summer Schedule
May 6, 2019

All campuses of Walters State Community College have adopted summer hours. The college will extend its hours of operation Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m.-5:30 p.m. starting Monday, May 6. This summer schedule will be in effect through Friday, Aug. 9.

The change will enable the college to better serve students and community members while realizing savings in energy and facilities maintenance costs. College classes have met Monday-Thursday in the summer for many years.

Visitors to and from academic divisions, student affairs, business services and other administrative offices drop significantly on Fridays during the summer, while the demand for later afternoon hours during the week increases and students and working adults enroll and register for fall semester.

Employees will be required to work the same number of hours during the summer by expanding their workday Monday-Thursday.

Summer hours for the R. Jack Fishman Library will be 8 a.m.-8:15 p.m. Monday through Thursday until June 1. Hours will then be 8 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday through Aug. 9.

The college will honor all commitments to open facilities on Fridays for previously scheduled events.
