Noncredit Classes Include Excel, OSHA, Drones

Upcoming noncredit classes offered by Walters State Community College include A Supervisor’s Toolkit, OSHA Safety Training and Construction Safety Training, ISO 9001, and drone certification. For information or to register for any class, contact Kellie Hendrix at or 423-798-7988.

Morristown Campus
•A Supervisor’s Toolkit, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Aug, 1, 8 and 15; cost $349
Learn how to lead people, motivate a team, reduce turnover, and find success with a diverse workplace. The course also teaches valuable communication skills, coaching, personal and interpersonal skills; and ways to eliminate conflict. 
•OSHA 10-Hour General Safety Course, August 7-8, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.; cost $199
Students who complete this class will demonstrate the recognition, avoidance, abatement and prevention of safety and health hazards in the workplace. OSHA certificate given at end of training.

Greeneville/Greene County Workforce Training Building
•OSHA Construction 10-Hour Training, Aug. 14-15, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., cost $199
This 10-hour program provides instruction and safety and health standards for workers covered by OSHA 29 CFR 1926. Topics include personal protective and lifesaving equipment; health hazards in construction; excavation, scaffolds, stairways and ladders; and power and hand tools. 

•ISO 9001: 2015 The Standard Explained, Aug. 15, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Cost $349
This one-day overview will introduce students to the ISO 9001:2015 structure for management system standard through an explanation of the standard, line by line. This class also covers the Annex SL structure and its relationship to all ISO Standards going forward. For industries still under ISO 9001:2008, the course provides a traditional “gap analysis” to update the current quality management system. 

•Microsoft Excel Level 1, Aug. 28, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.; cost $150
Learn to use Excel, including create, save and print documents. This also covers formatting tips, formulas, enter functions, page layout features and shortcuts. 

•Drone Training Package, Aug. 19-23 8 a.m.-5 p.m., cost $1,495
This course trains individuals in commercial drone operations and prepares individuals for FAA remote pilot license. This comprehensive drone training package includes the three-day program, the hands-on flight operations and the autonomous flight operations listed below. 

•Drone Training Three-Day Program, Aug. 19-21, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., $995
This class provides the basic training needed to safety and legally fly an unmanned aircraft system or drone. Students will be ready to take the FAA remote pilot certification and will have limited hands-on flight training. This class also covers how drones are used in various industries.

•Drone Hands-On Flight Operations, Aug. 22, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., cost $395
This one-day course covers settings, risk mitigation, pre-flight checklist, hands-on operations, close quarters flight, and scenario-based flights. 

•Drone Autonomous Flight Operations Training, Aug. 23, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Cost $395.
This class covers drone settings, risk mitigation, pre-flight checklists, two-dimensional and three-dimensional mapping, flight with multiple autonomous flight programs and industry applications.
