Excel, OSHA, Parent and Divorce Classes Offered

Walters State’s Division of Workforce Training will offer welding, utility safety, OSHA courses, Microsoft Excel and a “train the trainer” aerial forklift class this month. For information or to register, contact Kellie Hendrix at 423-798-7988 or Kellie.Hendrix@ws.edu.
Parenting and Divorce, the state-required class for divorcing parents, will be offered online through Zoom on Nov. 12 from 5:30-9:30. The cost is $60 and those attending do receive a certificate of completion. This class teaches communications and parenting skills that will make the divorce process less traumatic on children.

ONLINE
•OSHA 30-Hour Basic Safety and Health, Nov. 5-6, 8-11 a.m., $149
This instructor-led online class is designed for safety and health professionals or safety committee members. Students learn what the most cited violations are and how to correct those. The class also covers how to protect workers from hazardous materials, maintain safe exits and guard against the hazards of unexpected machinery starts. Materials also address protective equipment needed for various situations. This also covers the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) Safety Communications Standard and the Respiratory Protect Standard. 
GREENEVILLE
Walters State Workforce Training Building
•Microsoft Level 3, Nov. 3, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., $150 per person
This class can also be taken through Zoom. The course builds on the skills and concepts taught in Level 1 and 2, including PivotCharts, troubleshooting formulas and advanced formatting.
•Welding Level 1/Stick Welding, Nov 5-Dec. 3, Thursdays, 3-8 p.m., $279
This course will introduce students to shop practices, equipment, materials and skills related to the Metal Arc Welding Process. This is one of the most widely used processes in welding. Develop basic entry level skills or improve existing skills. 
•Basic Safety for Utilities, Nov. 10, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., $129
Students will review confined spaces, trenching and excavation, protective equipment, walking working surfaces, lock out/tag out and the most cited standards in utility safety. 
•Forklift: Aerial Train the Trainer, Nov. 30-Dec. 3, 8 a.m.-4 p.m., $2,295.
Upon completion of this Core 4 Trainer Program, individuals will be able to certify operators on boom lifts, scissor lifts, counterbalance forklifts and rough terrain forklifts. Students will also learn how to successfully present theory, train and evaluate operators, maintain needed records. This training covers common types of serial lifts and forklifts. Part of this class will be online with skills training being on campus.

MORRISTOWN CAMPUS

This course can be taken on Zoom. Build on the strengths learned in Level 1. Learn how to work with multiple worksheets and workbooks efficiently Use more advanced formatting, manage workbooks, functions and formulas. Learn how to work with and analyze data. 

SEVIER COUNTY CAMPUS
•Microsoft Excel Level 2, Nov. 17, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., $150
This course can be taken on Zoom. Build on the strengths learned in Level 1. Learn how to work with multiple worksheets and workbooks efficiently Use more advanced formatting, manage workbooks, functions and formulas. Learn how to work with and analyze data.
