June Noncredit Classes Include ServSafe, Excel

Walters State’s Division of Workforce Training will offer several popular noncredit courses during June, including ServSafe, OSHA 10-Hour Training and Parenting and Divorce. For information on any class, contact Kellie Hendrix at Kellie.Hendrix@ws.edu or 423-798-7988.

Online (Using Zoom)
• Parenting and Divorce, June 10 or  24, 5:30-9:30 p.m. Cost $60
This course meets State of Tennessee requirements for parenting classes for divorcing couples. This class will help you improve communications skills in your family and help your children through this difficult period. 
• Microsoft Excel Level 1, June 17, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Cost $150
NOTE: This class may be taken online through Zoom. Students may also attend the class on Walters State’s Niswonger and Morristown Campuses
Learn to create, save, and print Excel documents, explore formatting tips and tricks, create formulas, enter functions, and work with page layout features. Learn some quick tips and shortcuts and compare the new features of Microsoft Excel 2016 with older versions. 
Sevier County Campus
• ServSafe Sanitation and Safety, June 1, 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Cost: $109
Based on the National Restaurant Association program, this class covers hazard analysis and federal and state laws covering food service operations. Students leave with an understanding of the basic principles of sanitation and safety. Students will also be able to share knowledge with other employees. 

Greeneville Workforce Training Building
• OSHA 10-Hour Training, June 1-2, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Cost: $249
The 10-hour program provide covers construction industry safety and health standards and is designed for workers covered by OSHA 29CFR 1926. Topics include Focus Four Hazards, personal protective equipment, health hazards in construction, excavation and scaffolds, stairways and ladders, and power and hand tools. 
• Forklift – Aerial Train the Trainer, June 15-18, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Cost $2,295
The Train the Trainer program is a comprehensive, cost-effective method of ensuring that operators receive training and evaluation that meets or exceeds all applicable government regulations and referenced industry standards. Upon successful completion, our Core 4® Trainer Program enables instructors to certify operators on boom lifts, scissor lifts, counterbalance forklifts and rough terrain forklifts. Trainees will receive instruction on how to successfully present theory, train and evaluate operators, as well as documentation and record management procedures. This Train the Trainer programs are not model specific. Training covers concepts common to most types of aerial lifts and forklifts. Successful trainees will receive a certificate of completion and trainer wallet card.
The instruction portion of this class will be led by an instructor online. The skills training will be held at the Workforce Training building.
