"Connect to Success" At On-Campus Sessions
July 26, 2021

Walters State’s Student Success Center and Veterans Center invite adult learners and veterans to “Connect to Success” at in-person training sessions prior to class. Staff members will show students how to check SenatorsMail, log into MyWS, and check into their classes through eLearn.
“Walters State’s online classes offer flexibility, which is very attractive to adult learners and students who are, or who have, served in the military,” said Dr. Erin Dean, coordinator of adult learners at the college.
“This gives students a chance to learn their way around Walters State’s many online resources before classes begin on Aug. 23.”
The sessions will be hosted by Dean and Jason Wilder, veterans services officer.

“Connect to Success” sessions are scheduled on all four campuses.
•Aug. 3, 5:30-6:30 p.m., Morristown Campus, College Center Room 224
•Aug., 10, 8:30-9:30 a.m., Morristown Campus, College Center Room 224
•Aug. 17, 5:30-6:30 p.m., Niswonger Campus, Computer Lab Room 102
•Aug. 19, 12-1 p.m., Morristown Campus, College Center Room 224
•Aug. 19, 5:30-6:30 p.m., Sevier County Campus, MMH-120
•Aug. 24, 5:30-6:30 p.m., Claiborne County Campus
•Aug. 26, 8:30-9:30 a.m., Morristown Campus, College Center Room 224
This is a drop-in event. Reservations are not needed and students may come at anytime during the scheduled session.
“Students sometimes think that online classes are self-paced classes. That is not true,” Dean said. “Online classes usually have activities the very first week of class. Through these sessions, students will be ready to learn online.”
Students will also learn how to access many resources, including library classes and 24/7 tutoring, online.
“Students will also meet us during the sessions,” said Wilder, referring to himself and Dean.  “They will leave knowing two people who can help with any problems.”
