IDEAS plans, coordinates, delivers, and assesses professional development and training for faculty in teaching and learning technologies. The department administers the Review of Online, Hybrid and TN eCampus courses, previews new and emerging technologies for teaching and learning including new technologies for modes of delivery of instruction, provides a central point for faculty work in the college’s learning management system (eLEARN), leads training in the distance education modes of delivery of instruction, mentors online faculty including those teaching in TN eCampus. Additionally, the department is responsible for developing formal written comprehensive assessments, evaluations, and continuous improvement plans for online, hybrid, and desktop video courses; oversight of the development of guidelines and policies for online instruction processes, and providing a lead for the Teaching and Technologies Committee. The department provides leadership in all aspects of instructional design and accessibility of instructional materials as well as creates and monitors training registration for the college. At the discretion of the director of IDEAS, the department also undertakes college-wide improvement and innovative initiatives.
