Directory Information Policies
Directory information, which is information that is generally not considered harmful
or an invasion of privacy if released, can also be disclosed to outside organizations
without a student’s prior written consent.
What is Considered Directory Information?
Walters State considers the following information to be directory information:
- Student's name
- Telephone listing
- Date and place of birth
- Major field of study
- Dates of attendance
- Grade level
- Participation in officially recognized activities and sports
- Weight and height of members of athletic teams
- Degrees, honors, and awards received
- The most recent educational agency or institution attended
Exclusion of Directory Information
If you wish to have your directory information excluded, please submit the following

to authorized representatives of federal, state, and local agencies when that disclosure
is in connection with financial aid for which I have applied and/or received, or any
of the other exceptions to signed consent found in §99.31 of the FERPA regulations.
