Overview - Fire Science (A.A.S.)
Our Associate of Applied Science degree in Fire Safety provides training for those
entering or advancing in the field of fire science/fire protection. Graduates include
firemen, emergency management officials, fire inspectors and first-line supervisors.
The degree incorporates the Fire and Emergency Services for Higher Education (FESHE),
meeting the currently accepted standards of practice in the field. This program has
been recognized by the National Fire Academy. The program offers flexibility for students
with firefighting experience and creates a clear pathway for those entering the field.

Students must apply, meet admission requirements, and be accepted by Walters State Community College (WSCC).
Funding Your Education
Tuition is set each June by the Tennessee Board of Regents. Tuition and fees for the current academic year may be viewed on the Cashiers Office website.
Four types of financial aid are available; federal, state, institutional and other sources. Students need to send FAFSA information to the college for consideration for state and/or federal money (lottery scholarships, Pell grants, etc.). WSCC is an eligible institution for Hope (lottery) scholarships. For specific information please contact the Financial Aid Office.
