COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic: Saturday, April 17 at Expo Center
April 8, 2021
Walters State Community College and Crescent Center Drugs are teaming up to offer a COVID-19 vaccine clinic from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturday, April 17, at the Great Smoky Mountains Expo Center in White Pine.
The one-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine will be given at the drive-through event. Vaccinations will be free.
“We hope to give 1,000 vaccines,” said Dr. Tony Miksa, president of Walters State.
“Talk to your family and if you decide this is the vaccine for you, take advantage of this clinic. We will have three vaccine stations, so lines should be at a minimum.”
Walters State is planning the logistics while Crescent Center Drugs pharmacists will actually give the shots.
"We have made it our mission to safely and efficiently provide vaccines to our community this year. Crescent Center Drugs has a long history with Walters State Community College which makes this event a perfect partnership," said Ryan Kragel, pharmacist and owner of the pharmacy. Kragel is also an alumnus of Walters State.
Appointments will not be made for this event and vaccinations will be on a first come, first served basis. The supply of shots, though, is expected to meet the demand.
The Johnson & Johnson vaccine is authorized for individuals 18 and older.
