May Noncredit Classes Include Welding, OSHA

The Walters State Division of Workforce Training Class will offer the state-mandated Parenting and Divorce course, Microsoft Excel 2016, Level 1, MIG Welding and OSHA training during May.

Online Courses
• Parenting and Divorce, 5:30-9:30 p.m., May 3 and May 17, $60
This class is required for divorcing parents in Tennessee. Learn how to communicate and make this transition less traumatic for everyone, especially children. 
• Microsoft Excel 2016, Level 1, May 18, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., $150
This class may be taken online or on campus at the Niswonger or Morristown campuses. Instructor-led courses are streamed via the Zoom videoconferencing software. Students will learn how to create, save and modify Excel documents, formatting tips, use formulas, create functions and work with page layout features. Students will also learn some of the key differences between Microsoft Excel 2016 and previous versions. 
This course will be held May 18, 2022 offered at Walters State –Greeneville and Morristown Campuses. This class will have ZOOM online capability. Classes will be streamed via ZOOM and instructor led. Greeneville
• OSHA #501, Train the Trainer/OSHA Standard for General Industry, May 16-19, 
   8 a.m.-6 p.m., $800, Niswonger Campus
Those who complete this course successfully will become OSHA-authorized trainers in OSHA’s Outreach Training Program and will be able to conduct both 30-hour and 10-hour general industry classes. Graduates will also be able to issue completion cards. Training covers workers’ rights, recognition, avoidance, abatement and prevention of safety and health hazards in the workplace, employer responsibilities, and filing complaints. Students will develop a presentation and teach an assigned topic. OSHA-authorized trainers are able to issue 10 and 30-hour course completion cards to participants. • Welding Level 2/ MIG Welding, May 31-June 28, Tuesdays, 4-8 p.m., $279, Walters State Advanced Manufacturing Building.
Students will be introduced to the practices, equipment, materials and skills related to the Gas Metal Arc Welding process (MIG Welding). This process is used extensively in the manufacturing industry. It is easily learned and highly productive. , commonly referred to as MIG Welding. This course uses a hands-on approach designed to emphasize focus and practice. Basic concepts of spray welding are covered.
