ServSafe, Microsoft Excel Offered In June

ServSafe, Parenting and Divorce, MIG Welding and Microsoft Excel will be offered as noncredit classes in June at Walters State Community College. For information on any class or to register, contact Kellie Hendrix at Kellie.Hendrix@ws.edu or 423-798-7988.

Online Classes
• Parenting and Divorce Online – June 8 or 21, 5:30-9:30 p.m., $60 per person.
This class is mandated by the state for divorcing parents. Learn how to improve your family’s communication skills and begin the process of co-parenting. This class will make a difficult transition less traumatic for everyone, especially your children. This class is taught on the Zoom videoconferencing platform. 

• Microsoft Excel Level 2, June 22, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., $150
This course builds on materials covered in Level 1. Students will learn how to use multiple worksheets and workbooks efficiently. This course also covers working with advanced formatting options including workbooks, functions, formulas, data ranges and data analysis.
This class is offered on the Zoom videoconferencing platform. Students may also attend the class on the Niswonger Campus or the Morristown Campus.

Greene County Classes
• Welding Level 2, MIG Welding – 4-8 p.m. Tuesdays, June 14-June 28, $279.
Walters State Workforce Training Building, Greeneville
This class introduces students to the equipment, materials and skills associated with Gas Metal Arc Welding or MIG Welding. This process is used extensively in manufacturing. This “hands on” method teaches the basic concepts including equipment setup, selection of joints and weld positions and out-of-position welds. This class places an emphasis on safety. 

Sevier County Classes
• ServSafe Sanitation and Safety – June 17, 8 a.m.-6 p.m., $109
Northview Academy C-118, Kodak
Based on the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation Program, this includes a study of the hazard analysis critical control point system and training in all areas of food safety relevant to a food service establishment. This includes federal and state laws and rules and regulations governing food service operations. Students should develop an understanding of the basic principles of sanitation and safety and then be able to apply them in food service operations. Managers will learn how to share food safety knowledge with employees.
