Auctioneering Among Noncredit Classes Offered in September
Seven noncredit classes will be offered by Walters State in September. These include Part 107 Drone Pilot Certification Prep, SHRM CP/SCP Certification Prep, Industrial Electricity and PLC Troubleshooting, and Programming, and Auctioneering. Online Classes
Auctioneering 50-Hour Apprentice License, Sept. 10-Oct. 22, Tuesdays, 6-10 p.m., Tuesdays
and Thursdays, $634.
This course meets the Tennessee educational licensing requirements. This class covers
the basics of auctioneering in an easy-to-understand format. Students will learn fundamentals
with ethics and professionalism emphasized. Upon completion of this course and the
passing of the apprenticeship exam, students must submit an application for an apprenticeship
license along with payment and certification of completion to the Tennessee Auctioneering
License to receive an apprentice license. This course uses the Zoom videoconferencing
platform.
Parenting and Divorce Online, Sept. 10 or Sept. 17, 5:30-9:30 p.m., $60
This class meets the Tennessee mandated course requirement for divorcing parents.
Skills learned in this class can help you and your children through a very difficult
time. Improve your communications and lessen the trauma caused by a divorce, especially
on your children. The Zoom videoconferencing platform is used for all participants.
Multiple Campuses
SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP Certification Preparation Course, Sept. 10-Nov. 26, 5:30-8:30 p.m.,
Tuesdays, $1,595.
This class will be offered through virtual participation at the Morristown, Niswonger
and Sevier County Campus. This class covers everything human resource professionals
need to excel in their careers. This course prepares you for the certification exam
and covers four knowledge areas: people, organization, workplace and strategy. Eight
behavioral competencies are studied: leadership and navigation, ethical practice,
business acumen, relationship management, consultation, critical evaluation, global
and cultural effectiveness and communication.
Microsoft Excel 2016 Level 2, Sept. 18, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., $150.
This class can be taken at the Niswonger or Morristown campuses or at the Newport
Center virtually through the Zoom videoconferencing platform. This builds on the concepts
learned in the Level 1 class. Students will learn how to use multiple worksheets and
workbooks efficiently, work more advanced formatting options, and manage functions,
formulas and data ranges. The class also offers data analyzation techniques.
Greeneville
Part 107 Pilot Certification Prep Training, Sept. 9-13, 8 a.m.-4 p.m., $1,890.
The CrossFlight Drone Part 107 prep course prepares students for the FAA Part 107
exam. The actual exam is not part of the class, but students will learn how to take
the exam. Students will complete the FAA’s Recreational Flyer exam (TRUST) and receive
a federal certificate as well as CrossFlight Bronze Level certification showing employers
that they have been trained and are ready to serve as ground crew members. The Class
is offered at the Niswonger Campus.
Industrial Electricity and PLC Troubleshooting and Programming, Sept. 17-Nov. 26,
Tuesdays, 4-8 p.m., $1,995.
This class provides a brief overview of AC and DC electrical concepts with an ephasis
on troubleshooting using schematics and measuring devices. Students also receive an
introduction to Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), common associated input and
output devices. Students also learn PLC programming including uploading and downloading
programs, programing monitoring and using programming software as a troubleshooting
tool. This class is taught on the Niswonger Campus.
Level 2 MiG Welding, Sept. 17-Oct. 15, 4-8 p.m., Tuesdays, $379.
This class is focused on the Gas Metal Arc (MiG) Welding process, which is used extensively
in the manufacturing industry. The process is easy to learn and highly productive.
Students learn through a hands-on curriculum emphasizing focus, practice and safety.
Also taught are the basic concept of spray welding, industry standards for welding
equipment, selections of joints and weld positions. Students learn in a self-paced
environment. This course meets at the Walters State Workforce Training Building.
