Flooring Installation Course Offered With Scholarship
December 22, 2025

Next Floor Class Focused on Hardwood, Resilient Flooring
Floor installers are in such high demand that the Floor Covering Educational Foundation
is willing to cover the cost of learning the skills through a non-credit class at
Walters State Community College.
“The average floor installer is 56 years old,” said Robert Davis, director of workforce
training at the college. “Floors are the foundation of every home and business. There
is a critical need for installers.”
This class can lead to a career as a certified flooring installer. The next 15-week
session focuses on hardwood and resilient flooring. Other sessions focus on carpet
and tile. Each area is taught by an expert. Classes begin Jan. 20 and will meet from
1:30-5 p.m. each week at the Morristown Campus.
“Someone who masters this trade with a few years of experience could lead to a great
income, even six figures,” Davis said.
Davis added that, while the course is ideal for entrepreneurs, it is also great for
established contractors to add a new skill to their business.
The cost is $875 for each session, with scholarships available to most students. No
previous experience is needed. As the course is a noncredit course, no prerequisites
or test scores are required. Space is limited.
