Auctioneering, Geographic Information Systems, Microsoft Excel Level 3, Supervisor
101 and SHRM Certificate Preparation will be offered by the Walters State Division
of Workforce Training in September.

Online Classes
• Auctioneering 50-Hour (Apprenticeship) will be offered online Sept. 9-Oct. 21, 6-10
p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Students learn the basics of auctioneering in an easy-to-understand
format that meets the Tennessee educational licensing requirements. The course provides
the auctioneering fundamentals with ethics and professionalism strongly emphasized.
Upon completion of this course and passing of the apprenticeship exam, students then
must apply for an apprentice license, sending payment and certificate of completion
to the Tennessee Auctioneer Commission for issuance of an apprentice license. The
class uses the Zoom videoconferencing platform. The cost is $634.
• Introduction to Geographic Information Systems (GIS) will be held from 8 a.m.-noon
on Sept. 11. on the Zoom videoconferencing platform. Students will gain hands-on experience
utilizing Esri software. Sessions will include software basics and managing and visualizing
spatial data. This class uses the Zoom videoconferencing platform. The cost is $199.
Morristown Classes
• Excel Level 3 will meet from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on Sept. 16. This class builds on skills
learned in level 1 and level 2. The class pivot tables and charts, troubleshooting
formulas, using advanced formulas, macros and data analysis. The cost is $150.
Niswonger Campus
• Supervisor 101 will be held 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Sept. 17 and 24. This comprehensive
two-day workshop is focused on a supervisor’s essential areas of responsibility. Students
learn how promote communication guide work and projects, lead the workforce, coach
employee performance and develop as a new supervisor or a supervisor in a new company.
This workshop will make the move from worker to supervisor a smooth one. The cost
is $399.
Sevier County Campus
• SHRM CP.SCP Certification Preparation will meet Sept. 22-26 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Students
will learn vital information needed by human resource professionals to excel in their
careers. This course prepares you for the certification exam and covers four knowledge
areas: people, organization, workplace and strategy. Eight behavioral competencies
are studied: leadership and navigation, ethical practice, business acumen, relationship
management, consultation, critical evaluation, global and cultural effectiveness and
communication. The cost is $1,595.
