New SHRM Intensive Course Debuts at Walters State

Walters State's SHRM Intensive Prep Course Will Debut in June
Other courses include GIS, Excel, Certified Supervisor and ServSafe

In June, Walters State’s Division of Workforce Training will offer a new class, Human Resources Certification – SHRM Boot Camp, along with noncredit courses in Excel, Sanitation and Safety, GIS and Certified Supervisor.  To register, or for more information, contact Kellie Hendrix at Kellie.HendrixFREEWS or (423) 798-7988.


Sevier County 
• The SHRM Certification Boot Camp is a fast-paced, intensive program designed for human resources professionals preparing for the certification exam. This three-day workshop covers all components of the exam with a structured and focused approach. A SHRM-certified instructor teaches the course using the SHRM Learning System, the official certification tool. This class meets June 22-25 at the Sevier County Campus. The fee is $1,199. This will be at the Sevier County Campus.
• The ServSafe Sanitation and Safety course is based on the National Educational Foundation ServSafe program. This class covers the hazard analysis critical control point system. Students will also learn the principles of sanitation and safety, federal and state laws relevant to food establishments. Students will also learn how to share this knowledge with coworkers. This class will be held at Northview Academy in Kodak on June 29. The cost is $129 per person. 

Morristown Campus
Excel Level 2 builds on the skills learned in Level 1. Learn how to use multiple worksheets and workbooks efficiently and begin working with advanced formatting options. This class is June 9, and the cost is $150.  

Online
• The Certified Supervisor Course teaches supervisors to work effectively and efficiently with the people and processes in an organization. Content areas covered are planning and setting objectives; leading and motivating; organizing and controlling; quality control; problem solving and ethical decision making; managing groups and teams; staffing, training and appraising performance; customer service and communications; and accounting and finance. This class meets via the Zoom videoconferencing platform from 1-5 p.m. on Wednesdays, June 10-Sept. 9. The cost is $1,500.00 per person.  
• Introduction to Geographic Information Systems (GIS) introduces basic GIS concepts with hands-on experience utilizing Esri software. The class covers software basics, as well as managing and visualizing spatial data using ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online platforms. This course will be offered using the Zoom videoconferencing platform from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. on Thursday, June 11. The cost is $199.
