What is a transient student?

A transient student is a student who is already enrolled and taking courses at another college or university. Students may opt to take a course or courses at Walters State to receive credit at their current college or university.

 

How do I become a transient student? 

You can apply as a transient student by filling out a free online admissions application. Be sure to choose "Transient Student" as your student type.

How do I know the Walters State Community College course equivalent for the course I need at my current institution? 

You will first want to check with your academic advisor at your current institution. 

Several colleges have provided Course Equivalency Tables

Your current institution may request a Course Description from the college catalog.

What prerequisites are required for the course(s) I would like to take?

You will first want to check with your current institution to ensure you have completed their prerequisites for taking a course.

How do I know which semesters Walters State offers the class I need?
Our Course Descriptions will include the semesters in which a class is typically offered. Specific class postings for each term usually open shortly before registration for those terms begins. What is TNeCampus?
TNeCampus is one of the online formats we offer. Courses through TNeCampus are asynchronous and may be taught by a Walters State Community College professor or another professor in the State of Tennessee. In addition, TNeCampus courses have their own fees. You may view information about TNeCampus and other class formats at this link.

How do I register once I have completed all of my admissions steps?

If you are not taking a TNeCampus course, you may follow the instructions at this link to register yourself in MyWS.

If you are taking a TNeCampus course, an advisor will need to register you. You may email Student.SuccessFREEWS or call 423.318.2337. Please be ready with your student ID (W#) and the course title and section (CRN if you have it).
