Four Holiday Concerts Planned by Department of Music and Theatre

Holiday Concerts Feature Variety
Walters State Community College has four concerts scheduled for the end-of-semester and holiday season. Concerts are free and no reservations are required.
Sevier County Concerts
- The Walters State Sevier County Campus Community Band Concert will be at 7 p.m. on
Nov. 27 at the First Baptist Church of Pigeon Forge. The band is directed by Tom Lundberg,
adjunct faculty member. The band includes 36 musicians, iboth Walters State students
and community members. Music planned for this year includes DeCosta’s Tuba Tiger Rag,
Sheldon’s “Nightride” and Williams’ “Raiders March.” This concert is free. Donations
will be accepted.
- The Walters State Sevier County Concert Choir Holiday concert will be at 7 p.m. on Dec. 5 in the small chapel of the First Baptist Church of Sevierville. The choir is conducted by Laura Weathersby, instructor of music. The program includes new holiday music such as “The Work of Christmas” and favorites with “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy.”
Morristown Concerts
- The Walters State Morristown Campus Community Fall Band Concert will be at 4 p.m.
on Dec. 3 in the auditorium of Morristown-Hamblen East High School. The band is directed
by Brandon Tilley, adjunct faculty member. The program includes a variety of music
with Nikki Russell performing a horn solo in “Serenade for Horn and Band” by Milner.
Sarah Tilley will perform a clarinet solo in “Panis Angelicus” arranged by Sparke.
The band features 55 musicians, including Walters State students and community members.
- The Walters State Community College Jazz Band will perform its fall/winter concert at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 5 in the Lyceum, located in the Dr. Wade B. McCamey Student Services Building on the Morristown Campus. The band is directed by Michael Thomas, adjunct faculty member. A variety of jazz is planned, including Christmas tunes. The band is comprised of 18 members, with both students and community members.
