Auditions for "Of Mice and Men" Scheduled to Be Oct. 2

The Music and Theatre Department at Walters State Community College will hold auditions for its fall production, “Of Mice and Men,” at 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 2. Auditions will be in the theatre of the Judge William H. Inman Humanities Complex.
Actors should be prepared to perform a short dramatic monologues and cold readings from the script.

This is the first local production by Jack Truman, instructor of theatre and the new director at Walters State. He chose the John Steinbeck classic has important messages for students today.
“The play is set 100 years ago,” Truman said. “Things are much different now, but it is important that we remember.”
“Of Mice and Men” is set in the great depression and follows two migrant ranchers traveling California looking for work. The original play featured 9 men and 1 woman, but Truman is willing to flip some parts.
“We want the best actors and actresses for these parts. In Steinbeck’s time, ranching was really considered man’s work. Today, women own and work on ranches.”

Truman has spent 35 years in the entertainment industry, including stage, film and television.
