Two Gardening Classes Offered in April

Walters State Community College is offering two new classes just in time for planting season. Each class is only $15.

“Gardening for Beginners” will be offered on April 6 from noon-4 p.m. This class is for those who want to have a garden but aren’t sure where to start. This could be a large garden or just a few container plants. This class will you determine what is needed for a successful garden.

“Growing On” will be offered on April 13 from noon-4 p.m. This class covers the nutritional needs of plants. Basic plant nutrition will also be discussed, including options for the greatest yield. The class also includes effective pest control.

Classes will be taught by Dr. Tera Howerton, dean of business and technical education. Howerton previously served as head of the agriculture department at the college. The courses are sponsored by the Walters State Division of Workforce Training.
