I Need Help, But I Don't Know Who to Ask

It's 11:50 p.m. and you're doing the math on whether this semester is still salvageable.
Maybe it's a bill you thought financial aid would've covered by now. Maybe it's a quiz score you're still staring at an hour later. Maybe it's day three of missing class after a week that fell apart at home. The panic isn't really about the bill or the grade. It's not knowing who to call, and by week three, it can feel too late to ask.
It isn't.
Here's where to start: Senators Central.
One Door
You don't need to figure out whether you have a financial aid problem, an advising problem or a records problem before you ask for help. That's the point of Senators Central. It's designed to be a starting place when you need help but aren't sure where to go.
Call 423.585.2600 or email senatorscentralFREEWS. Tell them what's going on. They'll help answer your question or connect you with the people who can. And if you want to physically stop in, each campus has an office:
- Morristown: Student Services Building, U109.
- Sevierville Campus: Marshall Maples Hall, Room 100.
- Claiborne Campus: Room 026.
- Niswonger Campus: Room 108.
“You don't need to know which office handles your situation before you ask for help,” said Dr. Angi Smith, vice president for Student Affairs. “Tell us what's going on, and we'll help you figure out the next step. And whether it's week three or week ten, don't assume you've waited too long to reach out.”
What That Actually Looks Like
- Money question? Start with Senators Central before you assume you've missed your chance. They can help you understand your financial aid and what options may still be available.
- Grade slipping? Ask for help. Senators Central can connect you with tutoring, advising and other academic support.
- Missed class because life got complicated? Tell them what's happening. They can help you figure out who you need to talk to and what your next step should be.
- Not even sure what the problem is? Still ask. That's what Senators Central is for.
