How do I fill out the application?

The Walters State application for admission is segmented into several steps, and you will need to complete each step before submitting the application.

First, the enrollment information page will ask you what type of degree you plan to earn and if you plan to transfer to a 4-year school or go directly into the workforce after graduation.

If you haven’t decided what you would like to study at Walters State, that’s ok! You do not need to make that decision before filling out your application.

However, if you are interested in a specific program at Walters State, but unsure what category it may fall into, just look it up on our Areas of Study page.

To do this, open a new browser window and go to ws.edu, then click Academics, Areas of Study. You can look up information on all our areas of study here.

Once you decide which degree type and program you would like to pursue at Walters State, go back to the application portal and select the degree type in the dropdown menu.

Next, select your degree from the dropdown menu.

If you do not see your degree, make sure you have selected the correct degree type.

If you are undecided on what degree you would like to earn, select “I am still exploring educational goals and deciding on an area of study.”

Once you have made your selections, click Continue and fill out the rest of the application.

Depending on your application type, it may ask for Enrollment information, personal background, academic history, immunization history and more.

Once you’ve completed the application, go to the Review page and click Submit Application.

What if I'm not sure what to major in?
It is okay if you haven't decided what you would like to study yet. You can select "I am still exploring educational goals and deciding on an area of study" if you are undecided.
Where can I find information about the different degree types?

You can learn about the different degree types and programs on the Areas of Study page at ws.edu. The types of degrees are:

  • Transfer-Ready: Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, and Associate of Science in Teaching, which are designed to transfer to a four-year university.

  • Career-Ready: Associate of Applied Science and Technical Certificates, which are designed to allow graduates to go directly into the workforce.
How do I submit my application?

Once you have completed the application, go to the "Review" page and click "Submit Application". You will then be directed to the Application Status Portal where you can upload additional documents like transcripts and test scores. You should check this portal often to review any needed items to continue the enrollment process.

What if I can't finish the application in one sitting?

You can return to the Application Portal at any time by going to ws.edu, clicking on "APPLY," and then selecting the "Application Status Portal" link.
