Auctioneering, SHRM, More Noncredit Courses Offered in September.

Noncredit classes offered at Walters State during September include auctioneering, industrial electricity and PLC troubleshooting, SHRM CP/SCP Certification Training, stick welding, online parenting and divorce and Microsoft Excel Level 2. Online
• Parenting and Divorce, 5:30-9:30 p.m. Sept. 12 or Sept. 26 via the Zoom videoconferencing platform. The cost is $60 per person. This meets the state requirement for divorcing parents. Learn how to communicate even though you are no longer a couple. This course will make divorce less traumatic for the entire family, especially children. 
• Auctioneering (50 hour Apprenticeship) will be offered on 6-10 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays, Sept. 12-Oct. 24, on the Zoom videoconferencing platform. The cost is $634.
This course covers the basics of auctioneering in a easy-to-understand format that meets the licensing requirements for Tennessee. Students learn the fundamentals required to become a licensed auctioneer. Students are required to complete and pass apprenticeship exam and then submit the application for apprenticeship license. The cost of this course does not include the cost of the apprentice license.
• SHRM CP/SCP Certification Preparation meets Sept. 14-Nov. 30, 5:30-8:30 p.m. on Thursdays. The cost is $1,595 per person. The class is offered via the Zoom videoconferencing software and may be taken at anywhere. Those lacking internet access may take the class at the Niswonger, Morristown or Sevier County Campus via virtual participation. 
This course prepares students for the SHRM CP/SP human resources professional certification. This class covers the four knowledge domains: people, organization, workplace and strategy. Also included are the eight behavioral competencies: leadership and navigation, ethical practice, business acumen, relationship management, consultation, critical evaluation, global and cultural effectiveness, and communications. 
• Microsoft Excel Level 2 is offered 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on Sept. 27. The cost is $150.
This course builds on the skills taught in Level 1. Students will learn how to use multiple workbooks and worksheets, manage functions, formulas and data. This class can be taken any with the Zoom online capacity. Students without an internet connection may virtually attend the class at a campus. 

Walters State Niswonger Campus
• Certified Supervisor, Sept. 12-Dec. 5, Tuesdays 2-5 p.m. The cost is $1,500.
Certified Supervisor certification is designed to help supervisors work more efficiently and effectively with others in their organizations. This certification is based on a comprehensive management survey identifying the skills, knowledge and abilities needed by competent supervisors. This class includes planning and setting objectives, leading and motivating, managing groups and teams, quality control and ethical decision making. 
• Industrial Electricity and PLC Troubleshooting and Programming meets 4-8 p.m. on Tuesdays, Sept. 12-Nov. 14. The cost is $1,995.
This course provides an overview of AC & DC electrical concepts with an introduction to programmable Logic Control (PLC). This class covers using schematics and measuring devices with an emphasis on control systems and maintenance.

Walters State Workforce Training Building, Greeneville
• Welding Level 1 – Stick Welding is offered on Tuesdays, 4-8 p.m., Sept. 26-Oct. 24. The cost is $379.
The course introduces students to Shielded Metal Arc Welding, also known as Stick welding. This is one of the most widely used processes. The class covers shop practices equipment, materials and skills while learning basic skills and process variables. Hands-on activities are self-paced. This class is also open to experienced welders seeking to learn stick welding.
