Student Named Coca-Cola Scholar

A Walters State Community College student has been named a Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholar.
Jaylin Cope, a nursing student from Rogersville, is one of only 213 students nationwide to receive this honor.
“Jaylin has shown both academic excellence and strong leadership skills,” said Dr. Tony Miksa, president of Walters State. “I congratulate her on this prestigious honor and look forward to seeing her continued success.”
The Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholarship Program is awarded by Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society for community college students. This award is designed to help new members defray educational expenses while enrolled in associate degree programs. Students are selected based on scholastic achievement, community service and leadership potential.
The award includes a $1,000 scholarship. Funding for the scholarship is provided by the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation.
