Sexual Assault Prevention and Awareness Information Session Planned

            Walters State Community College will host a sexual assault prevention and awareness information session from 9:45 a.m.-11 a.m. on the Morristown Campus. The session will be held in the lyceum of the Dr. Wade B. McCamey Student Services Building.
            Catherine Oaks will be the featured speaker. She is the director of victim services at the McNabb Center, a regional behavioral health provider. She holds undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Tennessee and is a licensed master’s social worker. In her current role, Oaks oversees the Sexual Assault Center of East Tennessee, the Domestic Violence Center, the Project Against Sexual Abuse of Appalachian Children, and the Therapy Center.

            Information tables will be set up to provide information about both suicide prevention and sexual assault prevention and awareness. The following organizations will be represented: Walters State Campus Police, Morristown Police Department, Walters State Counseling and Testing, the McNabb Center, and the Tennessee Suicide Prevention Network. 
            The event is free and open to the public.
