Two Students Named to Tennessee All-Academic Team
Two Walters State Students have been named to the All-Tennessee Academic Team.
Karina Laureano Ruiz, a pre-dental hygiene major from Morristown, and Gerardo
Castillo-Ruiz, a
pre-engineering major from Greeneville, were announced as team members at the Tennessee
Board of Regents SOAR (Statewide Outstanding Achievement Recognition) awards luncheon
earlier this month.
“Karina and Gerardo have distinguished themselves through academic achievement,
leadership ability and service to the college and community,” said Dr. Tony Miksa,
president of Walters State. “I congratulate them on this honor and wish them the best
as they transfer to complete their bachelor’s degrees.”
The All-Tennessee Academic Team is sponsored by Phi Theta Kappa, the international
honor society for community college students, and=the Tennessee Board of Regents.
Only 26 Tennessee community college students received this honor.
