Noncredit Classes Announced for April

Classes Include Parenting and Divorce Online, GIS, Excel Level 1 and OSHA
The Walters State Division of Workforce Training plans to five noncredit courses during
April, including introduction to robotics. For more information or to register for

ONLINE CLASSES
• Parenting and Divorce is the state-mandated class for divorcing parents. These classes
offered through the Zoom videoconferencing platform. Learn communications and parenting
skills that can make the divorce process less traumatic for everyone, particularly
children. The cost is $60, and the class meets from 5:30-9:30 p.m. on April 8 and
April 22. Only one session is required.
• Introduction to Geographic Information Systems (GIS) will be held from 8 a.m.-noon
on April 3 and April 10 on the Zoom videoconferencing platform. Students will gain
hands-on experience utilizing Ersi software. Sessions will include software basics
and managing and visualizing spatial data. For information on the cost for individuals

MULTIPLE CAMPUSES
• Microsoft Excel Level 1 provides a great foundation for this popular spreadsheet
program. Learn to create, save and print Excel documents; explore formatting tips
and tricks; create formulas; enter functions and work with page layout features. The
instructor will also cover difference between Excel 2016 and previous versions of
the software. The course is offered April 22 at the Niswonger Campus, the Morristown
Campus and the Newport Center. The cost is $150.
NISWONGER CAMPUS
• The OSHA 30-hour Safety Training – General Industry class will be offered April
14-17, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. After this training, workers will be more knowledgeable about
workplace hazards and their rights. Knowledge gained from this course could reduce
downtime and injuries. This is recommended for front line supervisors, safety committee
members or safety professionals. The cost is $449.
• Introduction to Robotics Operation and Programming will be offered from 8-10 a.m.
on Tuesdays and Thursdays from March 18-June 3. Featuring hands-on training, the course
provides a basic understanding of robot operations and programming, material handling
and components. The class also includes preventative maintenance and troubleshooting
sections. Teachings align to the FANUC Certified Robot Operator National Certification
offered through NOCTI. This level focuses on the core robot operator skills needed
by employers as entry-level or incumbent workers. The cost is $695.
