HAM Radio License Class Planned

     The class is free for students 16 and under.
     Walters State Community College will offer a class designed for individuals looking to obtain their technician class amateur radio license, the entry-level license offered by the Federal Communications Commission. The class is $45 with the fee waived for students 16 and under. 
     The class meets from 5-7 p.m. on Mondays and Tuesdays from April 28-May 27 at Marples-Marshall Hall on the college’s Sevier County Campus. Classes include lectures and demonstrations. Students will have study information for time between classes. The last class will end with a review session followed by an official exam session.
     The license exam fee is $15, and the licensing fee is $35.

     This class will be taught by John Ellenburg, an amateur radio operator for 35 years and member of the Lakeway Area Radio Club.
