Medication Aide Certified Training Coming to Sevier County Campus

June 10, 2025

Medication Aide Training
The Medication Aide Certified training prepares CNAs to prepare and give patients prescription and over-the-county medicine.

Training Designed for Current CNAs

The Walters State Sevier County Campus will host the Medication Aide Certified training June 24-July 25, meeting on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
This class is open to certified nursing assistants (CNAs) with at least a year of experience. The class includes 40 hours of classroom training and 20 hours of clinical practice. After completion of the class, students are eligible to take the state exam to become a medication aide certified.
With this certification, CNAs may administer prescribed medication to patients under the supervision of a registered nurse. Many with this certification work work in hospitals, long-term care facilities and assisted living facilities. Students will learn how to keep medication records for both prescription and over-the-county drugs, collect samples for laboratory analysis, advise patients on proper medication usage, and notice and respond to any adverse reactions.
The cost of this course is $899. Students may register at https://bit.ly/4mQOIN4. For more information, contact Kristy Waddell, workforce training nursing facilitator, at Kristy.WaddellFREEWS or 865-286-2789.
