Workforce Training Welding Program

The Walters State Community College Division of Workforce Training Welding Program is centered on providing welding training solutions that maximize the on-hands arc time while providing students with the background knowledge related to the process being learned.

We are dedicated to providing both standardized and customized courses that are built for the needs of businesses and individuals within the area.

The Walters State Welding /Advanced Manufacturing program is housed in a 6,000 square foot facility with modern equipment designed to provide students with a consistent and reliable training environment.

Our facility contains classroom space with multimedia capabilities for up to 20 students.

Welding Process Capabilities

Our welding process capabilities are supported by modern energy efficient inverter power supplies that support the following processes:

  • Shielded metal arc (Stick) welding of carbon steel, stainless steel, nickel alloys, and high strength low alloy steels.
  • Gas metal arc (MIG) welding of carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum using various transfer modes including spray pulsed transfer.
  • Flux cored arc welding of carbon steel and stainless steel utilizing both gas-shielded and non-shielded FCAW electrodes.
  • Gas tungsten arc (TIG) welding of carbon steel, stainless steel, nickel alloys, and aluminum.

Support Equipment Capabilities

Our welding process capabilities are supported by machinery designed to allow the welder to quickly and efficiently prepare materials for welding. Our equipment includes:

  • Vertical band saw with a tilt head for beveling plate.
  • 50 Ton ironworker for punching and shearing flat stock and angle iron.
  • CNC and manual plasma cutting.
  • Portable pipe beveler with 2" to 6" capacity.
  • Portable fume extraction equipment for each booth.
  • Handheld and mechanized oxy fuel cutting equipment.
  • Guided bend tester for Welder Qualification and Certification.
